Before You Start: Some Things to Consider
In general, all history pages have the following components:
- A few quotes and events that happened
These are necessary for a history page. Try to get a clear idea of what your page is before starting.
Some articles and pages fail miserably for one reason or another, primarily due to the writer's lack of experience.
The idea is also the heart of your history page. It can be anything like secretive, honourable, or anything. Here are tips to archive those amazing thoughts:
If you want an interesting history, reel them in. It is better to know that history has interesting things to consider when it goes to its country's backstory. History is also should be thrilling as well.
If you want a history that has a great facts. The history should also get a facts that should go on purpose as well. You can make the history positive, intriguing, or anything that the readers would draw attention.
Or do something out the box. Put history to something you might like. Maybe you want to be funny after all?
Workshop your history ideas before moving on. It's better to draft the history pages before you can archive it— I mean, to post it. The forum is the place where you can get help from your great ideas of history in the Universe.
Find a photo that blends in with the history. The Internet is a great capitalist invention with over thousands of photos to find. You can find some photo that suits to your history page. It could be a black and white, or anything you might find.
Professional Writing isn't the case. Of course, most of the SCP Foundation community are like high school students. But they can also act like adults. And that's our approach as well. Speaking of students, they do write in academic writing. Academic writing are mostly used to create the SCP Articles, and especially country articles. Be sure to use some words that isn't hard to define, and the description should be very clear as well.
Use neutral point of view. (not required) Unlike articles you write, the history pages are written in neutral point of view. It's best to write them this way, but some cases, you don't need to write them in this way.
Proofread. Keep proofreading the history pages or else, everything will go inconceivable.
Make sure that you often oblige to the Creative Commons License before you insert and attachments in the page. Once you accept the obligation, you can follow these steps now.
To insert an image, do the following:
[[image ATTACHMENT NAME attr1="any string" attr2="other string"]]
Or
[[include component:image-block
image=NAME OF IMAGE FILE
|caption=IMAGE CAPTION
|align=right/left
|width=300px
]]
Do not insert the image if:
- If it has a watermark on it
- Too inappropriate
- Does not qualify with the CC License
The reason why these lists do affect the image is that, it could make some craps in the site will just crittle the shits away. So better to find images that do work.
To insert a media file, do the following:
[[file AUDIO OR VIDEO FILE|Name]]
To post, it is better to crosslink it in some articles, (because we aren't accepting canons yet) and make sure that it attaches in phrases or sentences. This will draw the readers in.
It's important to put the three brackets:
and to change the name of the link, do this,
This will display the name instead of the link. Make sure you have the correct spelling of the unix name of the page or else we will end up in 404 page.
